Frequently Asked Questions
What is henna made out of?
Henna is made with the powdered leaves of the henna plant (Lawsonia inermis), lemon juice, sugar, and essential oils.
Do you use black henna?
No way! Black henna has harmful chemicals in it that burn and blister your skin!
However, Jagua, a gel made from the South American fruit Genipa, leaves a black/blue stain. I can use Jagua upon request.
How do I take care of my new henna?
After getting your henna applied, DO NOT TOUCH!
It will dry in 30 minutes, or a bit longer, depending on the weather. It will start to flake off by itself, but try to leave it on as long as you can.
Your design will take about two days to fully develop it's reddish brown color!
Try not to get it wet for 24 hours for optimal darkness of the stain. Henna also stains dark when you stay warm after application!
To keep your design looking it's best, use a natural oil such as coconut, shea, or cocoa butter over your design to keep it from getting wet. Do not scrub or exfoliate, henna stains the first layer of your skin!
It will last 1-2 weeks.
